The building, composed of two main sections and an annex, is an open and light-filled space, featuring workshops and multi-purpose classrooms. At the top of the building stands a distinctive structure housing a design business incubator.
Facilities

The ESD campus is located in the Vinateros neighbourhood, in the Moratalaz district of Madrid — a residential area known for its peaceful atmosphere and extensive green spaces, with excellent connections to the city centre. The campus hosts the four Bachelor’s Degree in Design specialisations and the two Official Master’s Programmes.
Our facilities are continuously evolving to adapt to the needs arising from the identity, scale and objectives of a school that remains attentive to the changes of a constantly evolving society.
Garden
The ESD garden is much more than a green space: it is a place where nature inspires and brings creativity to life. With trees and plants that tell their own story, this corner of the campus invites students to sit outdoors, share ideas around a table, or simply disconnect and enjoy a moment of calm.
In this garden, we carry out projects and initiatives that bring the ESD community together in meaningful ways Our vegetable garden, an essential part of the space, hosts workshops on cultivation and sustainability, where edible and aromatic plants grow for everyone to enjoy. Here, every corner of the garden offers an opportunity to explore, learn and let creativity flourish.
Workshops
At ESD’s workshops, creativity takes shape. Here, students have the opportunity to experiment and bring their ideas to life, from drawing, photography, pattern-making and sewing, to model and prototype creation, as well as screen printing and textile printing.
Each workshop is carefully equipped with the tools and materials needed to enable our students to carry out practical projects that transform theory into action. These spaces are essential for developing the technical skills every designer needs, offering the opportunity to learn
hands-on and explore every stage of the creative process, from the initial idea to its final realisation. Moreover, the workshops are spaces for collaboration and exchange, where students share ideas, experiment together, and build collective projects that enrich learning and encourage teamwork.
Annex Building
The Annex Building is much more than an extension of our campus: it is an example of collaborative and sustainable design that reflects our ability to transform challenges into opportunities for learning and growth.
The annex emerged as a project from the collaboration between students, faculty members, and the team led by Santiago Cirugeda and Recetas Urbanas. With 170 m² spread across two floors, it responds to the need for additional space while combining sustainability and innovation.
Built using reclaimed materials and “dry construction” techniques, this building not only expands our facilities but also reinforces our philosophy of practical learning, collaboration and commitment to responsible design.
